The Mustang returned with 16 Bluefin Tuna & 6 Yellowfin Tuna for 8 happy anglers on an overnight trip!
The Legend came back this morning with 3 Bluefin Tuna, 3 Yellowfin Tuna, and 4 Yellowtail on their 2.5 day trip!!
The Relentless also came back with 16 Bluefin Tuna from their 1.5 day trip!!
The Constitution got back to the dock this morning with 93 Yellowfin and 4 Bluefin Tuna weighing up to 100 LBs!
The Poseidon came in with 16 Yellowfin Tuna, 2 Bluefin Tuna, and 1 Dorado for their 2.5 day trip!
The Faith just called in with a Bluefin Tuna on their morning half day trip!!

OFFSHORE STORY: The San Diego Sportfishing Fleet continues to encounter large spots of fish on a daily basis. Several of our Captains have reported similar scenarios on the water with the schools seen: A school of 18-30 lb Yellowfin passing by in one hour, then a school of 100+ lb Bluefin swimming under in the next, and then school of 10-20 lb Yellowtail on a kelp. Finding fish is one thing. Getting them to bite is another. Eventually these schools will eagerly engage and the same good fishing we have now WILL become good catching….

The Grande reported 42 Yellowfin Tuna!!!
The Excalibur returned this morning with 17 bluefin, 4 yellowtail, and 4 bonito! The Top Gun 80 also returned with 4 bluefin, 6 yellowfin, 4 yellowtail, and 7 bonito!
All the boats are finding huge quantities of bluefin offshore filling their bellies on tiny bait! Smaller flatfalls, 80 and 100 gm coltsnipers, Daiwa SKB jigs, and coltsniper stickbaits have been the most effective lures lately, so come prepared!

They are out there- Big Bluefin, Yellowfin and Yellowtail! The catch reports do not always tell the whole story- especially when it come to Bluefin. The fleet has consistently encountered fish for weeks now. Some days- they just don’t bite. Other days- boats spend hours on a drift with passengers hooking and fighting fish the entire time only to put a few on deck. Then there are days where it all comes together and counts look good. It’s anybody’s game on any given day and every crew of every boat at H&M makes every effort to score.
the Right Gear…
If you are going on an offshore trip, the gear you are using can make all the difference. Make sure your reels have been recently serviced and the line is FRESH- nothing less than 40 lb test, though 50-80 lb is better. Not sure if what you have is up to par?? Arrive plenty early before your scheduled departure to let our tackle shop staff take a look and make a recommendation for your best success. H&M always has premium rental gear available.

Before her trip today on the Excalibur, Evelyns best fish was a 36″ walleye! Her 132lb bluefin was quite a nice upgrade! 50 lb line on a Avet LX 6/3 rental rod did the trick again!
